A “Dusty Grooves” Classic Wedding

 In Articles

This past weekend, I dj’ed a very cool wedding. For today’s blog, I thought I would share some of the best aspects of this wedding.

First, the venue was very cool. St. Ignatius College Prep is one of Chicago’s most well known and well respected high schools boasting countless elite alumni. Its classic architecture, carefully designed and landscaped courtyard and wood-lined rooms make it a stunning and unique choice for a wedding. It was the perfect setting for a couple that shared many good times together there as young students.

Next, bridesmaids and groomsmen were not wearing the traditional coordinated dresses and tuxedos. Instead, women wore a variety of colored and styled dresses. Men wore classic suits. While set in a very traditional environment, this choice of attire was dressy but more relaxed. I’m not sure I would go this direction for my wedding but it was very well executed and uniquely chic.

Finally, what I liked most was their choice of music. Laser Sounds works very closely with brides and grooms to make sure we create exactly what they want. Our commitment is to the bride and groom, not family members or guests. We want to create the day that our brides (and sometimes grooms) have always dreamed of. While I am not typically a fan of musically themed weddings, this one worked exceptionally well. They called it “dusty grooves.” It was a collection of 50s, 60s and maybe a few 70s tunes (including motown hits) that connected with their guests and kept them dancing all night. In the last hour, we opened the music up to some other genres and it was a huge success. Below you will find a list of some of the songs that keep on the dance floor.
